My wife got a sweet deal on a 250R as her first ride. The previous owner put a smacking total of 67 miles on it.

The bike is lowered. I got the stock dogbone and sidestand and will need to raise it back to stock height. I've done swingarm work on my F4i with a car aluminum wheel under the exhaust, but its been awhile and the 250 is configured a bit differently (single cylinder). Any suggestions on getting the swingarm unloaded so I can swap the linkage?

 

I think I'm going to suspend the bike using the passenger pegs spread out attached to the railings in my garage and a pair of ratchet straps. I may video it and post in on youtube (?) as I didn't see much there about the subject.

 

Before you ratchet it up make sure you have a game plan to getting it down as you probly know those straps can only be released at once. Also make sure you have some that are way overkill for the job as they clearly state that they are not for lifting.

 

Good thoughts on letdown. I plan to only lift just enough to get the job done and set it down gently.

Or I may use "relief straps" at other intervals going down. I have a few spares.

 

That project is done. Plans worked well. I videod most of it but have no idea when I will have time to edit for posting.

I am looking for a way to lift from the center of the bike. I have been able to do it with my F4i without bodywork, but now looking for a way of doing it with both bikes with bodywork on.

Ideas? Or should I start a new thread?

 

Oh forgot to say: I used my front and rear stands to get the bike up and the straps to hold it in place and removed the stands as needed to remove the support- wish I had a headstock stand but I don't so the fork stands and swingarm stands got employed.

 

Huh, I looked through all my photos and for some reason I couldn't find any, so I apologize for that, but I use two jack stands under the rearsets, works like a charm to unload the rear suspension, for the front if I need to remove the triple tree I put the jack stands under the alternator and RHS covers. I'll take a photo for you tomorrow.
