I've never been into cars/engines/wrenching until I got my bike, so I really don't know too much. I have a Dodge 2500 with a Cummins in it and I love it. Several people have told me that the Cummins is way better than the Hemi...what do you guys think of that?

Here you go.

Just kiddin, someone sent this to me when I got my Dodge, but sold it shortly after two cracked heads, a spent uni-bearing, exhaust leaks so on....and it was a babied 2002 with 40K on it. So, no more dodge for me.

Diesels and gas are like apples and oranges. Diesel motors have a following like bikes. Some swear by the power-stroke, others by the duramax, but I think the majority really like the cummins. I dig the looks of the dodge trucks, but after the nightmares with mine, and knowing several people who had dodges catch on fire, break down so on (allot of durangos) Just not for me. Others have said "my dodge is on 500K and still strong" Great, wish I had that luck with mine.

Don't get me wrong Hemis/V8s can produce some major horsepower but lets face it they should. Their engines are 6.0L or more thats pretty huge, which means they need something huge to put it in. I perfer the more bike inspired hp/weight ratios of 4 cylinder hondas.
Just look at the numbers on the S2000 2.2L motor with 240hp (NA) in a 2,850lb car that gets 26mpg. That right there is crazy!!! Although the car is not extremely fast just the feel of a 4 cylinder putting out that much power is amazing.
And even Hondas Civic Si is pretty nuts if you ask me, 2.0L with 200hp (NA) in a 2,880lb car that gets 32mpg.
I dont think you can look at any Dodge (hemi) or American V8 with those type of numbers comparable to size (liters). And I'm not talking about super cars because the S2000 is $34,000 and the civic $21,000.
I mean just look at our bikes, 100hp or more out of what a .6Lmotor. At first that doesn't seem crazy butit must be becausehowdo our bikes go so fast. Its not about hp. And most people that buy Hemi powered cars or big V8s think they are crazy fast because of that high hp number they are reading or that cool sticker on the car that says V8 or HEMI well guess what you ain't going nowhere in that 4,000lb sled its bolted to. I wish they would just make a tiny car like a civic or a geo metro with one of those huge V8s then I might take notice but until the weight comes down the power it makes is only good for burning out, not going fast.

This one time on a empty road a Nice Evo 8 pulles up next to me and my brother in law around 50mph they both gun it and the lancer held its own with him, possibly he because he hadnt rode much, i was to much of a squirly newbie back then.
sounds kind of like this guy on his 900rr
http://youtube.com/watch?v=BnSGnJ0tF-w
just makes that newby thing that much more saddining
that wasn't much of a race... I don't think the bike was really in it
Even a really fast Supra runs 9s in the quarter mile... a 900 runs 10s so I'm thinking maybe that bike was just there and they wrote it like it was a race when the bike wasn't even running

thats funny ill, for some reason the old 5.0 fastback stangs always try to race me.
i've run down (mild exaggeration, lol)a few noobs on 600s in my 5.0 at the dragstrip, but its purely an experience factor, an 11.7 second car vs a 10.5 or maybe10.75 at the slowest, bike on the street where its just gun-and-gowould be murder. but i know what you mean, the jackasses who dont know **** about cars, but OMG OMG I GOTTA MUSTANGAND ITS THE FASTEST! its always good to set the record straight for the people who dont know much about bikes

Hemis are good engine because of the combustion chamber design. However, they go through gas, which is why Chrysler has the technology now that cuts out fire to certain cylinders when on the highway. if you are drag racing, I'll take a Hemi, but only when running the big classes. For anything else, I'll take a small or big block chevy as the HP to weight ratio, and cost to Hp ratio is the best.

There's a reason why a Viper loses to a Corvette in the LeMans series. The freaking thing is a pig. Give me Shevy power over Chrysler most any day.

I laugh at these damn cars with the loud mufflers on them with 4 people inside. I go like 270 and I know that I can take them easy on my 600. They take off from a light and I keep up doing 6 grand. LOL.

I had a guy in a Mustang GT want to race me the other night at a stop light...I live in a small town, it was late, no traffic...i pull up beside him at the stoplight and hes got the racing stripes, big spoiler, etc etc. He revs, I look over and he looks away...So i wasnt gonna do anything but then he guns it on green... so I kinda hit the throttle a bit and get up to like 50 in first...he falls way back after hes shifted a couple times and then turns off...

I have like 4-5 friends that think Mustangs are the ****...they are slow as hell...i dont know what people see in them...My room mate's g/f has a Mustang 6 cyl and shes always like "yea, my car is really fast"....im like give me a break...I could beat you in my V8 5000lb Tundra
