I'd have not started by yelling and swearing. As soon as you start yelling or flipping them the finger, you're into a fight. You are NOT going to get them to see things from your point of view.

Also, keep in mind that most of us make mistakes. I sometimes cut people off or fail to yield or pull out without giving traffic enough space. I feel badly when I realize what I've done. Having someone attack me though will just get my blood boiling.

Another thing, 400 lb bike versus 3000 lb car. Who do you think is gonna win at road wars? And for those of you in the Excited States, there's a high probability the guy is carrying, isn't there?

Look F4, I'm not trying to turn this into a pissing contest, but there is a lot of good advice being given by others in this thread, just doesn't seem like much is being taken. I understand you don't like me or my opinions, so whateverI say will fall on deaf ears...but please take some of the othermembers advice. Please?
Stay safe out there.

Soooo many good points in here. If you think you are going to teach people to start seeing bikes, or stop cutting us off, or stop tailgaiting us, or stop wanting to race us, I think you should sell your bike. When I got my bike, I told myself that everyone is trying to kill me, and the only person responsible for me making it home everynight is...ME. I do that with the help of generous amounts of SIPDE, and minimal amounts of punching, kicking, and tantrum throwing. Sure, I can punch someone's mirror off, but what about the guy that pulls infront of me five minutes later, or the lady five minutes after that, or the old man five minutes after that? Punching off mirrors is like spitting on a fire to put it out.

As someone else said, I have cut people off in traffic numerous times (actually never a motorcycle, though.) I always feel terrible when I do it, too. It is always an accident. If someone were to take that personally, I would feel bad for their ignorance. If someone busted the mirror on my wife or parent's car because they accidentally came over, I would love to find that guy and shove a rubber fist up his keyster. I can understand frustration at asshats that do this stuff intentionally, but a million bikers with a million angry fists will never change a damn thing. I will bet you a million, zillion, trillion dollars.

One day you're going to get in someone's face and get your *** handed right back to you, or worse.
to be totally honest.... that would be me. i wouldn't start it i promise you that but boy if you did that to me or anybody i loved......you'd be sorry! we all ride and we all cage (some of us dont own cars but you get the point). i ride everyday and that **** happens multiple times a day bro. so do you only ride on the weekends or something that when this happens it comes as a shock to you.
ignoring you would be a favor but if you followed me i'd run my foot so far up your *** that i'd tickle your heart with my big toe. thats not a personal threat or a challenge over the forums. just letting you know that there are people out there that wont put up with your **** and your days of getting away with that are truely numbered. maybe you should check out some anger management classes before someone shows you how to manage pain. agian and i repeat this is not a personal threat or a challenge. i dont know where you live (and dont want to) but i was raised in vegas where every 1 out of 10 is a boxer. i lived in phoenix where 1 out of 3 people carry firearms. now i'm in cali where every 1 out of 3 is a gangster or in mma. dude dont run the numbers cause it will work against you.

So what would you guys have done in my shoes?

Um, probably would have gotten frustrated at yet another slow-moving van...which means backing off their tail, then I'd grumble some more about how much I hope they ****ing pull over to get some frigging ice cream...and then I would have been so happy when they did!

It's important for me to not create a situation, which is what it sounds like you entered. As much as you say you hate stupid drivers and what not, it seems like you enjoy confrontation. I'll bet my million, zillion, trillion dollars I'm getting from Voodoo, that you are at least 51% guilty 99% of the time, in creating a situation.

well not me thats for sure, a vehicle ranging any where from 2500lbs on up to a Big Rig weighin in around 60,000lbs vs my little 410lb bike + my fat *** around 230 just does'nt seem very fair so kickin somebodys mirror off or bustin out a window kinda makes it all moot. No matter how it all seems unfair that we get picked on or somebody trys to run us over, your not gona win.... your gona look like a nut job on a "Rice Burner" who just got run down by a car or a truck [&:]

sometimes the middle finger isnt enough. For instance i was riding with a friend down a windy road that goes along the river. This van in front of us is doing 50mph in ***. Sowe ride a couple car lengthsbehind to pass. The van pulls into the turning lanewith no turn signal, as i begin to drive by the van pulls back over and almost hits me i had to crack the throttle tonot get side swiipe. So um all pissed off. Soacouple miles down my buddy and i pull over at a local ice cream/biker hangout. Sure enough thisvan pulls in. Um still pissed off. So right asthey get out of the van. Um in thereface. Husband and wife about 50years old. Igot in there face and asked why the hell they almost swerved over and hit us? U were speedingthey said. WTFdoes that have to do with anything. Ur not even observant atunder the speed limit and u almost sideswiped me and didnt use ur turn signal u dumb****. So they start to ignore me. They even go up to order icecream and turn there backs to me. I got right up in there faces and cussed and bitch them the **** out right in front of probably 15people there waiting for icecream. They alll looked at me like i was going to pull a gun.

Now somebody tell me you would just give them the finger and laugh it off. They just put my life endanger by a couple feet and could of ruined my buddys day to if i would of got hit. I know they seen us because we road behind them for a mile.

So what would you guys have done in my shoes?

What I always have done. Make sure the van was really going to turn before pulling upbeside it. If I had been beside it when the driver decided not to turn and pulled back toward me I'd drift away from it while using throttle or brakes to get out of it's way. Then I'd shake my head, and say, "Phoo, that was close," (along with perhaps a comment as to the driver's abilities) and continue on my way glad that I wasn't a spot on the road. Had they pulled in at the same ice cream stand, I'd have treated them as any other person there - politely. Who knows, they might even apologize to me. Most who have done similar to me and have had the chance have done so, as I have to those I have cut off inadvertantly.

if it really grinds your gears that bad to have a personal vendetta enough to rant and rave when you get home on some message board then I suggest you hang up your helmet and sell your bike.

and whoever said the thing about ramming a rubber fist up someone's ***...that **** was funny as hell. I'm sure you'd like to ram a rubber fist up a dude's ***...I kid I kid but damn that was funny
