where on fire here in san diego.
Since the winds died down the smoke is comming into Big Bear now from the "Slide Fire" which is the one in Running Springs, on the Bear Lake side its kinda heavy, out here on the East end of the valley its not so bad. Still at 0% containment but the Feds have stepped in to take over command of the fire so that means more help and moreequipment we'll see what happens.
The Super Scooper from British Columbiais taken water from Big Bear Lake. All boating has been suspended on our lake while this monster plane takes water, all air traffic in the valley is has been suspended too, this thing looks like the Spruce Goose !
Cal State San Bernardino is shut down all week. UC Riverside is going to stay open. My church is having a retreat in Del Mar this weekend. I hope the fires do not keep us from going. It seems that these ones are the worst in awhile. We havent had rain in a long time. Last season I rode all but I think 2 days. This year I still have not been off of my bike. There just isnt any rain to get us wet.
Fox was also reporting that these were started by Al Quida...
It was reported that the Witch Fire (the biggest I believe) was started by 2 power lines. The winds were blowing hard enough for the lines to touch, spark and...well....yall know the rest. Supposedly, the guy who's property the lines were on told (SDGE I believe) NOT to put the lines there, for this very reason.
