Well, it all depends on State requirements. In florida, if you are under 21, you have to take a Motorcycle Safety Course to get your license. If your over 21, you can aplly for a permit. In your case (if its the same) you have to take a motorcycle safety course, which is good to take either way. Also, in Florida, insurance is not required. Medical insurance is required if you ride without ahelmet, but again, you have to be over 21 to ride without a helmet. So, I would go to google or yahoo, or whatever you use and type in (Yourstate) motorcycle lisence, or Insurance requirements. That would probably be the best thing to do, or go to your states DMV website and check it out.

At 17..the insurance companies might not insure you..and if they do..its gonna cost more than the bike is worth..if its new...best bet..buy a used one and carry just liability...

In Illinois and Indiana, you have to be 18 atleast. You have to get your own bike or rent one, take a written test, they will give you a permit you can ride on in the day time with no passenger and you have to be riding with a 21 year old riding next to you. Than you take a riding test. Than they will take your license and put a M on it for Motorcycle. than you can ride by yourself.

I am 17. I just took a course. It was not required in Georgia. I could have also gotten my learners. Here we only have to be 17 to get both. My insurance is not any more then my car. It could be because it is also with my dad, but it doesn't cost that much. I think the course will bring it down some. It is a good idea to find out, and the younger group always needs more riders. Stay safe!!

I would think so. It is kinda like having summer break in Ga and going to Flordia when they don't. As long as you are legal in your state I think it would be fine. Not planning on riding up there, but it's a good question.
