I always wear mine. and for my safety as well. it's second nature as soon as I get in the car. If I have my daughter I put her in and buckle her up. She is 3 and is always kind enough to tell me before I'm even in the car to "put your seatbelt on daddy" with a big grin as well. Thats well more then enough to make me want to put on my belt. same goes with my helmet. Its the first thing i put on before I get on my bike and last thing I take off.

 

Funny, I was the same way as your 3 year old was, to my own parents. I also refuse to go anywhere if everyone isn't belted in my car.
