...because you can't get a seatbelt ticket when you're riding it.
Just got my 4th seatbelt ticket on my way home from work. I was about 200ft away from my driveway when a sheriff went by in the opposite lane, and sure enough he whipped it around and pulled in behind me . He gave me the whole spiel about how he's just looking out for my safety and whatnot and how there's a no tolerance thing going on right now. Anyway, I'm now $65 poorer.
I know what you're gonna say, "Why don't you just wear a seatbelt?" The short answer is that I don't like the government micromanaging everything I do and I'm a stubborn SOB. But who knows, this might be the one that will teach me a lesson.

That's a good point. But It's a lot easier to remember a helmet than it is to put a belt on. Honestly, the main reason I wear a helmet is because a don't like bugs in my eyes and teeth, but that's just me being young and stupid. Plus I find the seatbelt in my truck is a little uncomfortable because it rides against my neck. But yeah, you're right...I know

You wearing a seatbelt protects others on the road as well as yourself. If you get hit, or slam on your brakes or w/e you can slide around in your seat and not be able to control your car as well. Yeah, a seatbelt may save your life, but it protects others around as well.
I'm with cynicalrider, I feel naked without my seatbelt.

My seatbelt does not a damn thing for me "sliding" around in my seat...but then again, I don't have a 5-point harness. That's got to be one of the more ridiculous things I've read on this forum.
Seatbelts are mandatory for one reason and one reason only...insurance companies.
