VENTING!!!
Nothing is worth you or your bike going down. I think you handled it just about the best way you could have. If there was any area that you could have pulled over and stopped. But then you'd have to worry about the kids stopping with you, thinking you "wanted to play". Maybe stopped and turned around for a few miles, enjoy a nice ride then get back to where you were heading to.
that's pretty crazy... based on your name and you saying that you live outside of LA, I take it you live in the SFV? If so, what road were you on? I just took the MSF class and got my first bike like 2 months ago. I've been going out at least once a weekend. I'm pretty comfortable on the highways and on the local streets. Its the curves that I'm still trying to get used to. Something about leaning over doesn't feel quite right yet. For the past few weekends, I've been hitting on up the roads in the Santa Monica mountains like Old Topanga and Mullholland Hwy to get used to curves and stuff. I've also been going at like 6AM to avoid exactly what happened to you because I'm pretty frickin slow. Where do you usually go riding? Have any good suggestions?
Hey Hobbes,
I live in T.O and work in the SFV. I was on Malibu Canyon where this incident happened. I've been riding for a while but this is my first street bike. Never had a problem on my cruiser so it must be the bad boy image of a chick on a fast bike that made these guys want to "play". I love going to Shideck out by Ojai and Cold Springs Tavern (about an hour North) is the most amazing ride. There are a few crazy twists but if you take em mellow there isn't a problem. I love Hidden Valley and Potrero too. Topanga, Mulholland and Kanan all have too much bike traffic and those guys try to push you past your limit. I am not a crazy rider and for the most part, I avoid detination places like the Rock Store and Neptunes. IMHO, as a new rider, I congratulate you for taking the MSF course. It teaches you things that are applicable to every day situations.

what the hell, I know some pretty jerky guys that rides bikes but I dont even think they would do that. And then throw sand is that supose to make you like them? Some people can be real buttholes sometimes....But I think you did all you could do becuase stoping might not have been such a good idea.
Thats why you make a custom mount on the side of the bike for a Jimmy Club. Than when they start acting stupid, you pull that out and hit them in the hands. Having to ride with one hand around hard curves is a little bit harder than with 2 hands. Especially if you hit them in the throttle hand.
Hell. I keep a Machete in my explorer just for idiots that think they want to try something. Along with a gun. Its not real though. Just a high powered air pistol that my buddy uses for killing squirrels when he is hunting.

That is a real pisser, because at least those pesky cagers aren't trying to harm you on PURPOSE (but if you get hurt it doesn't matter either way I guess). Anyway, if I were you, I'd consider what small penises they must have and how hard it is for them to do simple math and remember to breathe on a regular basis.
i'm surprised that happened on malibu canyon given the car traffic and everything. thanks for the suggestions! i'll have to try it out one of these weekends when i have some free time. its too bad that you have to ride so far to avoid idiots.
