Average male Shiba Inus will weigh in about 20 lbs and 14" tall at the shoulders. My gf didn' want a dog that'd break her in half if he pounced and I didn't want a dog I'd come home to constantly find in her lap, frilled up with bows and such.

Kai wouldn't tolerate it anyways. The breed is known to be more 'teflon' than 'vecro'. So they aren't real clingy

Not gonna lie, that is one adorable little fella.

Kai is like a fluffy pitbull. His favorite playmate is my neighbor's 13 month old pitbull. Redman has Kai by about 10-15 lbs. But when they're playing, Kai gives as good as he gets. He's bowled the pitbull completely off his paws as often as he gets knocked down. And he's utterly fearless of other dogs.

We've met some of the 'bad' pitbulls on walks (meaning their owners are bad) who were very dog reactive. While the owner is hauling on the leash chanting "It's only a baby! Leave it! Leaveitleaveitleaveitleaveit!", Kai will stand his ground looking at it like "What's wrong with you?". He's the compromise we settled on.

The 'furcoated razorblades' (Doberman / German Shepards) were too intimidating for Yuen. And the 'breathing fluffballs' (Shih Tzu and Pomeranians) would never be seen at the end of a leash I was holding

 

hhahah I'd pay good money for a picture of you and a pomeranian. My momma has two German Shepards - Zues and Winston. One is an American German Shepard and the other is a German German Shepard. Both awesome.

Glad to hear Kai has some guts too!

 

Figured I'd give y'all an update on Kai seeing how he's my avatar now

Kai hits 4 months on Tuesday. But he's had his last set of vaccinations last week and will only need yearly boosters. So far he hasn't touched my riding boots. But I'm thankful every day I ride home from work wearing my kevlar jeans cause the little ****** still has those needle sharp puppy teeth. He's enrolled in 2 obedience classes, one for roughing up the toy yorkies and one for actual learning. And other than the occasional "If you won't give me treats, I'll **** on your floor" he's pretty well house trained.

You just gotta watch out for the "Awwww he's so cuuuuute" factor. Kai is definitely a lady killer

 

Haha thats a cool dog kuro. He was holding his own in that video. Although the 1 min mark was kind of a low blow on kais part. But just my 2 cents. haha

My dog is a big ol wuss but i love her.

 

Lol yeah he fights dirty sometimes. Another of his faves is to get a running start then cut the legs out from under the other dog during a slide.

We have to keep telling other owners that he's only playing. Shibas can look extremely vicious during play. And they play rough
