Uh oh... Puppy!
Got the last update from the breeder today. Kai's flight is scheduled for the 27th, landing here in Philly at 11:30 pm. Lil bugger is making me take off that Sat. I'm sooooooo upset to have to miss a day of work, making it a 3 day weekend for me, to lay about playing with a new puppy

He's looking like a real puppy now instead of a mini bear cub. It'll be a month or 2 before his ears stand up tho

Well we picked up Kai at the airport Friday night.

Seems like he's suffering a bit of jet lag. He's been quiet and cuddly and sleeping constantly. Nothing at all what you'd expect for a puppy. Especially not a Shiba Inu puppy.

He's already seen the vet to double check the breeder's vet. I think even the vet was kinda surprised at the lack of struggle Kai put up. He was quiet, standing still even for the biggest of indignities (vet shoulda warned us before he stuck his finger there!).
But the jet lag seems to be wearing off. Tiny bits of Puppy Power can be coaxed out of him with the simplest of toys.
And he's a mouthy little bastard with those needle teeth. We're working on that now, giving him timeouts whenever he starts to nibble on us.

dude, way to cute!
im such a sucker for dogs and would want one but living on my own it doesnt seam right to keep it locked up for 8-10hrs a day when im at work. so i rescued 2 3wk old kittens a year ago. my dog growing up still lives with my parents, going on 10 years old now.
best of luck with the pup.

Well I prolly should update this a bit. Kai landed safely a week ago. We were worried enough about his flight that we got to the airport 45 minutes early (lady on the phone hinted strongly they'd kennel him if we arrived past 11:30 pm sharp).

Out the crate and touching our floor for the 1st time
He immediately began using his innate cuteness and manipulative skills to take over the household.

Chilling with my girlfriend. Cute and angelic, right?
We took Kai to the vet the next morning. The vet said he was a healthy puppy, weighing in at 6 lbs 1 oz at almost 9 weeks old. We asked about how come Kai seemed so relaxed. Even during the vet visit, he barely reacted to the poking, prodding and pretzel shaping the vet put him through.

This explains the vet's smirk for an answer. We get this at least once a night. Right around 11 pm, when we're getting ready for bed.
Oh, remember when I asked about the touching picture earlier? "Cute and angelic"? If you said "Yes", he suckered you too. It was purely Jet Lag.

His monkey co-star suffered a horrible accident during rehearsals since this
video and is no more. So much for "Indestructible" toys.
He's settled in now. Has gained 1lb 2oz in a week. The masks are off and the playful Hell Child is all that remains.

Pics like this are rare. Usually after one of us has walked him for 30-45 minutes (at 11:30 at night
)
This is more "normal"

"Nap when you're dead. I wanna play NOW"

Lol those are 'decoy' wires: telephone and ethernet for the wireless routers.
Actually he's great about wires. He's way too busy with the couch, our clothes and our toes to bother with the wires

How big do those suckers get? He's freaking adorable. I just showed my better half (debatable) and now she won't stop saying how fluffy he is and how she wants one.
I've been batting the dog idea around for a while now.
