sorry guys, its not resizing the first pic
anyway, that shiba is a beautiful little pup. ive always like them, and ive heard alot about the notorious shiba howl lol
good luck.
id def start reading up on training, watching Cesar Millan's Dog Whisperer all you can, and any other training. you want to make sure you subtly display your dominance, in confident, non aggressive ways. timing is everything.

also, idk if you are into forums in general, or just for bikes but i also get on a rottie forum. im sure you could find a shiba forum, its good for learning tips. like for ex. when he is tired at night and relaxed, pet his whole body from head to toe and softly grab and hold his feet, and his individual toes. only when hes relaxed and calm. this does wonders for when you have to clip his nails later.

there are a million things like that you can do to prepare for his future. sorry for all the rambling, this might not even be your first dog and you may not need tips, i just found forums, training books, and the dog whisperer extremely helpful.

congrats man.
also, when do you get him? how old is he in the pic?

Well we decided on the name Kai (like Kye) cause it's short and easy to say (my girlfriend's accent can get thick at times). Kai hasn't reached 8 weeks yet so he's still with the breeder. He'll be on a plane around the 27th (there are restrictions on when its safe for a dog to fly). We paid $600 and he is a registered pureblood. But there's no championship lineage and he's not Show material cause of his coloration (cream is a major negative apparently).

I've been warned of the Shiba Scream. Even looked it up on Youtube. I'm saving that surprise for my girlfriend Petsmart already has $100 of our cash. But I figure to spend another $100 on toys and things we can't get yet (collars and harnesses). And a friend tipped me that UPenn has an animal teaching hospital a couple blocks from us. So I may use them for vet needs.

Puppy proofing the house may just be impossible tho. We'd have to put everything on stilts But maybe yall can answer this one: how do you walk a puppy that hasn't gotten its full vaccinations in an urban environment??? We don't have a yard so we can't let him out back to do his business. And I don't want him to really hit the streets without full immunization cause I know some of the people round here barely take care of their kids. So spending money on shots for a dog ain't high on the priority list

well you shouldnt have any problems because the breeder should have already started the vaccination process you must just keep giving them

look into puppy pads, i started with them but my pup kept chewing up the pads and shredding them, but i didnt try to start him until later so i just figured i wouldnt worry about it. but if you start him young that should work. other than that i would talk to my vet, bc they arent fully vaccinated until 16 weeks (as you appear to know)

Hes so cute!

Like said above, He should be started on his vaccinations when you get him. You just want to keep him away from areas that have a lot of dogs. Its whats in other dogs feces that you want to keep him away from. He will only need three or four more shots by the time you get him.
