Agreed.....but hopefully by moving him from hitting coach to bench coach was a calculated move at the beggining of this season in anticipation of Torre leaving.....its not a secret that the boss wasnt happy and was just lookin to get him out.
I think the fact that Mattingly has always been a Yankee sits well with the boss and the fans, for the most part at least

In the end you are correct though, he doesnt have any direct experience, but hopefully sitting next to Torre, espescially considering the season they went through this year, he learned somethin....and i dont really know if Girardi or Valentine could do any better....its gonna be a rough year no matter who takes over..
