All the details you need to make a 95%+ probable assumption about the series of events are there along with what you should take away from the story.
Points to take with you in no particular order.
1. Walmart parking lots full of customers (8:30 pm) are not decent places to wheelie bikes.
2. Steering dampeners are awesome and potentially life saving devices.
3. Just because your wearing a helmet doesn't mean your invincible.
As far as the guy goes it's a shame that he died and I feel for his fiance. I think analyzing his motivation is pretty much irrelevant though, everything worth taking away from this is above and the only stupid statement came from a grieving fiance who prolly doesn't understand bikes all that well.
