What Caused this? Just Curious
So I was bored today and figured i'd go fire the bike up and let her breathe for a few minutes ...put the battery back in and all and before startin her up i noticed the needle on my Tach was sitting at 14 before i even put the battery back in (bike was totally shut off no battery and it was at 14) so i figured maybe temp. or something caused the needle to rise over time. Put the battery in started it up an let it run for about 5-10mins. Needle was where it was supposed to be and everything. Turned it off and the needle sat where it was supposed to... Just though it was weird anyone know what would cause this???

My tach started doing that slowly and then quit working all together. turns out the solder joints on the part that drives the needle broke. by the time i took it apart to figure out what was the issue, the pins had arched enough to burn the pins up. I've been looking for that particular component to replace but so far no luck. prob have to replace the guage cluster. Yours may just be a fluke but keep an eye on it. Mine started on a track day and then completely went.
