do you do any actual engineering or just design stuff based on engineers specifications?

where I work I do both... both design work, as well as some cad work strictly based on what my boss gives me

alot depends on who you work for...

but at alot of places, engineers come up with this oh so brilliant idea

little unbeknown to them mets work in the real world, where nothing ever can be produced as originally designed, so its our jobs to fix the design flaws in the engineers original design

and making a product actually work

hence why we take welding classes, metallurgy classes so on and so forth...

to show us no matter how well a machine is deigned, alot comes down to how the components were made and assembled..

Hey bro I know what you mean. Nights at my job suck *****! ha ha I am a Correctional Officer and we are not even allowed internet access ( thanx to other CO's frigging that up) or phones ha ha. makes for a long night. Luckily Inmates leave the Cycle world out for me to read ha ha.

this is just how its been explained to me by many teachers, as well as former employers, and employees

ha nice inmates huh. Guess it doesnt hurt to be on a CO's good side. My friends dad is one at the maximum security prison here in nj. Hes a bad motherfu****, we used to be terrified of him. Not somebody id ever want to **** off.

damn it z why didnt i know about this MET stuff sooner. Im gonna look and see if they even have that here. Im sure i wouldve at least heard something about it if they did.

Ha Ha yeah I work at a county place up hear so the Inmates are pretty docile. mostly drug or OUI and domestic. Plus its in my home town so I see old school mates from time to time ha ha.

Well it doesnt sound too bad actually when you put it like that maine haha.

And yeah after looking through the "M" majors....this god forsaken school only has MOT(management of technology) which is in the business school not engineering, MEE which is just the general mech engineering, and ouuuurrr MET major is metal smithing and thats in the art school. Kind of relieved now that i know i didnt miss out on this.
