Clearly some materials will have better abrasion resistance than others but that is not what I said. If we are considering only one material i.e. leather, how do you know a more expensive set will offer more protection? It is easy to assume it will because otherwise we would have been ripped off, but you don't know it is because they will never have been tested back to back under controlled conditions.
When I lived in Florida I wore my bikini, shorts, shoes and my helmet. Pretty much lived in my bikini. Of course that was a long time ago. Now I wear jacket, helmet, gloves, jeans, boots. But if I'm just doing a slow casual ride the only gear I wear is my helmet.
All I have to say is if you dont wear all or most of the gear, dont be on here crying about your mfing boo boos when it happens, and it will happen.
The only thing I dont wear riding in/thru town is the leather pants, I wears jeans then.
And the stats say that 5miles close to the house is the danger zone btw
