ride2die dot com...

I first saw it 2 days after buying my first street bike. I always wore a helmet and jacket, No gloves, jeans and tennis shoes. After seeing that shaite, I went in my cage to the shop and got armored gloves, a better jacket, riding pants and started wearing boots or ancle high shoes for riding. when I had my accident the doctors couldn't believe i was actually talking when I went in. One of them came over and said, "there are 3 reasons you are alive right now:
1 you where in so great shape that your heart was able to absorb the impact without going into cardiac arest.
2 GEAR if you didn't have that jacket on, you would have been impaled...
3 You must be a real SOB because they aparently dont want you in heaven or hell as of yet...

meh, I kinda thought the other day when soccerpro was talking about him quitting smoking and a ton of people chimed in that they smoked...how would they like it if I told them it's stupid and they should quit...they'd get all ****ty right?

i've wrecked and gear saved me a lot of pain and hospital bills but going down the road to return a movie or sometimes on my way to class I won't wear my jacket and I'm okay with that because when I went down I was carving up some back road 40 miles away, not riding 45mph on a straight stretch for 8 miles timid as can be...if a car pulls out in front of me a jacket ain't going to save my life...I do however never get on without my helmet...plus they look 10x cooler than a backwards baseball hat.

No helmet...I just think you're a dumbass that deserves what you have coming to you...it's a downright shame some people have lost their lives and cause so many people in their family grief because they couldn't take 2 minutes out of their day to strap on a cheapo helmet..you can get the damn things for 50 bux shipped so there's no excuse to have a brand new rr or gixxer but not have at least a 80 dollar helmet. it's fukin selfish.

We have gotten sidetracked from the OP's original statement. He was asking why so many people blast a new member with +1's and *wear your gear* posts one after another. Quite simply, we are that type of forum. Many of the members here feel very strongly about wearing gear. The longer you have been around motorcycles, the more tragedy you have seen. The longer you have been around here, the closer to home it hits when it is one of ours. Whenever I see a WENT DOWN thread, my heart sinks. I am always relieved when I read the rider had his/her gear on and they are just a little sore.

Now, I dont hassle the new guys, or do any squid calling, but I think we must teach, coach, and mentor the ones that have the ability to give motorcycling a bad name. Just my opinion of course.
AMEN to that

Here's another way of looking at it...we're all at a party, I sit down at the table, pull a revolver out of my pants, spin the chamber and put it in my mouth. Do you
a: Say "Hey dip****, don't do that, you could get killed"
b: Look the other way and when I spray my grey matter all over the walls say "It was his choice"
I depends. Is your name George Bush?

Much less buy a 400 dollar jacket.

No need to do that unless you can. I can't. I spent several months last winter looking for new gear. One place I found has a closeout section and the prices kept coming down...bam, six hundred dollar Italian 1.4mm bovine with articulating armor...for only $250! I mean, you know, everyone points their fingers and laughs uncontrollably because it's a 2006 model lol...but I manage

All these opinions are true, personally I think the issue should be address without an overkill, secondly, cost is a big issue as well. Here is it is, gear is like a CONDOM, it might be a $1, it might be $5, you might not look cool, but when u needed ur gonna be glad u AT LEAST had something on. . .

P.S. when buying gear keep this in mind, "how much is ur head, skin, elwbos, knees, bones, or toes worth??"

INHO, every new sport rider should see this site at least once. It certainly scared me straight.
