no reason to ever wear flip flops. i went down on my 50 in shorts going 10 and hit my knee hard enough to limp for 4 weeks it hurt like hell. i can't imagine how many toes i'd lose going down even at twenty with flip flops.

I always gear up because of my buddy who mentored me when I first got my bike. He STRESSED the importance if it all. I want to be good to go when I fall. He always told me" You really dont need a Helmet............................until you fall"!!

I tell them and they don't listen, then crash and end up disfigured, that's on them. I don't tell them and they crash and end up disfigured, I wonder "Could I have helped". I sleep with a clear conscience...you don't want my advice? Don't take it. I've been on bikes for 27 years now, my Father beat "ATGATT" into my head from day one, it's saved my *** (literally) on more than one occasion. I've crashed, it sucks, would've sucked WAY worse if I wasn't hiding inside a dead cow. Will I force someone to wear gear? Nope, it's called free will. Will I ride with someone without gear? Nope, don't care to see yet another bad accident that could have been walked away from. You don't want to wear gear, go ahead without it...my sick cousin needs a kidney anyway...

Here's another way of looking at it...we're all at a party, I sit down at the table, pull a revolver out of my pants, spin the chamber and put it in my mouth. Do you
a: Say "Hey dip****, don't do that, you could get killed"
b: Look the other way and when I spray my grey matter all over the walls say "It was his choice"

O.K. I Have a reply to this.I'm 32 have two kids work paycheck to paycheck. If
I could afford to GEAR up I would.Haveyou stopped to think some people don't have the money to look like they're going GP racing? This is a B.S. thread.I ride with an old leather jacket and a pair of leather gloves.Am I a squid? Hell no It's all I can afford.I spend the money on the bike.If your stuck up *** thinks you're better then so be IT.But I'll ride with any one no matter what they wear.As long as they act like a sane person.

^Great point. I can't afford riding boots right now and that sure as hell isn't going to keep me off my bike.
