Meh, I'll just address this real quick. You seem to forget, he wasn't just riding on the shoulder at 120 for the fun of it, he was attempting to catch up to someone running from him/breaking the law. I hope you have a good reason to be driving at 120 on the shoulder
I am not forgetting anything..
I could not give a dam if he was chasing a murderer ..
No one should drive at those speeds on the roads let alone in traffic ...!!!! ever!!!! for any reason....

Traffic cops thinks they are kings of the bloody road ... and I think he and any other cop or individual that goes and does that with those consequences should be locked up full stop...

If I ever get caught riding at those speeds after having killed someone ...I will expect to go straight to bloody jail mate.. for a long time!!
No amount of "he was doing his job" is worth **** mate ..

They can and do catch people other ways , other that speeding like that to try to run them off the road..

If we lived in a perfect world sure. I wish nobody had to drive at those speeds on the road too. But are you serious? If someone killed your wife, and the police showed up as soon as it happened and saw the guy leaving in a car would you want them to let him drive away and not give chase because he was driving fast? Your logic fails.

I don't know what kind of experience you've had with traffic enforcement officers but obviously you have some kind of grudge against them in general. Again, he was wrong because he went against department policies by shutting off the camera and not calling the chase out, but that's it. What he was doing was fully legal and correct.

This part is absolutely ludacris. If you got caught riding at those speeds after killing someone??? Maybe I'm reading this wrong, you probably mean he killed someone by going those speeds and the fact that pulling over people violating traffic laws is a part of his job description means nothing.

Actually the whole point of chasing someone is not to run them off of the road. Ideally you follow them until they either give up or run out of gas...but when they don't stop other means must be used, such as spike strips, pit manuevers and such. We don't live in a perfect world

You do realize, that there aren't very many "traffic cops" don't you? Sure there are specialized officers who only do that, but how many? Not a whole lot, we just recently got a traffic unit section and it consists of 3 people. They basically go check areas that have received a lot of complaints from citizens about speeding/people running stop signs etc...

Your whole view of a traffic officer as someone who lurkes waiting for someone to go 10-15 over is hilarious IMO, but hey...think what you want. I wonder what the world would be like if there was nobody out there enforcing traffic laws, I wonder how much the death rate on accidents would go up in the nation? The rules of the road are there for a reason.

80 percent or more of officers out there are not special "traffic units" They're normal officers, who patrol the streets and respond to calls....and in all reality about 5 percent of their job is pulling traffic. It probably seems like more because most law abiding citizens only come into contact with them in traffic stops. My theory anyhow.

But this whole thread is about whether or not the officer should be held responsible for the death of 2 people, or the person who ran. Lets get it back on track.

Well luck you mate ...we have at least 10 and 6 cars and bikes here in a 50 klm radius... and they are creepy and **** me to tears ...

Hillarious ..you think Cam..?? . well that's your bloody opinion.. and it is colored by the fact that you work for the buggers ... ??? hmmm??

I am sure that we have ,many many guys in here, that may not be game to say what they think about traffic cops ...but hey ... they are not silly enough to bother arguing the point with a cop , or a guy that works with them... but me ...I am ..!!

The bloody facts are that for all your creepy sneaky , money grabbing traffic cops mate ...you guys kill more friggin people on the roads in the US still ,..... more than all the bloody wars around the world ever have..." A FACT!! "

So ... how much good do they and our Aussie traffic cops do .?? bloody next to nothing !!!!!!!!!!!!
and that is a statistical fact mate ..

yet they manage to take licenses , cause financial misery to raise tons of cash to pay the forces bills every week .....even though they have very little effect " A FACT!! "

So you go save your " Hilarious " for some other police members mate...because the general public as a whole do not believe you ..ok !!

I actually lol'ed. No, not everyone who doesn't work for the police believes like you bugger

So you think my view of police is tainted because I work for them...understandable. Feel free to point out anyfallacies in my arguments, I'm here to listen.

Not quite sure I get what you mean here. Are you saying that police kill more people on the roads in the US than all the wars around the world ever have? If so, utterly ludacris again...prove it please? And what do you mean by "you guys", how do the police kill people on the road? Are you saying more people die on the road than in wars? Because if so, you're only making my point

http://www.marylandaccidentlawblog.c...ehicle_ac.html
That link says 42,642people died in motor vehicle accidents in the U.S. in 2006.

Check this out too, http://www.marylandaccidentlawblog.c...otor_vehi.html

A whopping 2,575,000 (that's millions) motor vehicle injury victims in 2006.

So lets do what you say, lets take all traffic laws away...no more stop signs, no more traffic lights, no more speed limit....free reign of the road, biggest rules the road. Lets see how many people die then.

Umm, actually no. The police are paid from your taxes, figured into the city/county/state's budgets.
