Saw my first bike accident.
Went on a ride today and it was great out. About 2 miles in front of me i see a group of bikers so im slolwy trying to catch up. Well The round a corner and i loose them for a min but when i get there they are all stopped. I stop to and there is a bike down the ditch. It was a Buell and it looks like the front brakes locked up but no one knows for sure yet.
He was caughing up blood and his right leg had a bone sticking out about an inch from the shin. From where his bike hit he flew about 50 feet. They are updating me throught texts. Both legs are broken, a broken wrist, and he has multiple broken ribs.
That was my first time seeing someone in a bike wreck in person. Its a pretty scary thing and makes me think how no matter how safe we ride someone else or something can potentialy take our lives away or just really F you up. My best wishes for a speedy recovery.

wow that must have been a bad sight. ive seen a couple they were stunting and one kid went too far back on his zx6r and he came off the back, it rolled and toppled over. he was fine but his peg broke and a few other things. bikes are kind of delicate, like people as you now know.
Man, that sucks....
I hope he recovers ok. It certainly does make you think.
I've seen a few wrecks on the road (and many on dirt), but it gives me a sick feeling every time.
The last one I saw was just this past summer. Some guy on a cruiser ran directly into the door/fender of a suburban who turned left in front of him.
I was literally one second behind him. It easily could have been me in that situation. He wasn't even speeding at all, either.

My shop manager back when I worked in DC was in a bike accident years ago. Someone came into his lane (on a cell phone) and just clipped the side of his bike. Only did about 300 bucks worth of damage to the bike but managed to almost rip his foot off. It was attached by approximately a 2 inch flap of skin. They were going to amputate it but luckily they found a way to keep it. He's recovering and riding again though.
Ya he had on his gear which was a helmet, gloves, jeans, military boots, and a textile jacket. He didnt get any rash cause when the bike layed down he was on grass. But once it layed down he was about 50 feet from where the bike was layed over and the bike landed about 10 feet from him. The whole nose section was dug into the ground. He missed a hugh concrete wall by less than a foot. No joke. Crazy stuff to look at.
The first wreck I saw in person was very scary. I was 15th or so in a line of bikes probabally 25 long that was going round a fast corner in which some guys were dragging knees. The guy right in front of me on a R-6 got too far into the corner, locked the back tire up. The bike highsided and threw him off, then then bike slid into a guard rail completly thrashing it. Rider landed 10 feet away in the middle of the road, thankfully he didnt suffer any injuries except for a bit of rash.

luckily the only ones i have seen in person have been realitively slow. one of the guys thought his kick stand was down, but as he soon found out, it wasn't ha ha. and the guy with the ninja must have been going maybe 15mph. he just brought it up too far.
