Yea, just like a PS3. However I don't think I have ever seen a PS3 being shipped back to SONY for repair.
I bought a PS3 a couple weeks ago. It lasted 7 days (About 4 hours of actual use) and it died while I was using it. Waited 6 days for the empty box to go from Laredo to Cedar Rapids. Luckily the return label was next day air. I'm sure it will be at least another 7 days before I get it back.

Read that a bunch of people have problem with the blueray lens on their PS3. Dont know if their is an official number posted.
Probably no official numbers because nobody gives a crap about Sony and the PS3.

Wow! I did not realize this would become a debate on which service center is better. I am just glad they are fixing it for FREE! The magical little 4 letter word.

Everything breaks, some companies cover their stuff properly. most big companies do.

We are a world of consumers, they'll make more stuff for us.

ever since my first gen x-box died (olny 6 months out of the box) and i was pissed, but loved the x-box, i now buy the extended warranty with all of my consoles, i think it cost me 30 extra buck for 2 years and they replace it on the spot, well spent money in my opinion, although yall have a good point, this should be a major concern for microsoft,as i have never had a problem with any of the playstations 1,2,and3.

there is a way to temporarily fix your x box when it gets the red ring of death while you are waiting for them to ship you a box to send it back. Its is pretty cool i tried it last time mine broke and it worked.

Get 2 large bath towels and wrap up your xbox.. The goal is to get it to over heat. After its wrapped up turn it on and leave it for 15 minutes. After that shut it of and let it sit for 15 minutes..unwrap to let cool off and power it back on. it should work.
