RAIN
The only thing I missed when I took the motorcycle test was the braking in rain question. I said rear brake only (though i still give it a bit of front) and missed it. I just have this thing about using my front brake when it's wet out. Anybody ever use your front brakes on a dirtbike after riding in the rain/mud and dump it on a blacktop driveway? It's happened to me at least 3 times, and it's just kinda stuck with me.
Braking (front or rear) when the bike is leaning has to be done carefully.
My Dad gave me similar advice, BUT
You'd be amazed how hard you can brake in an upright line - there's plenty of pressure pushing the front onto the road, increasing your grip. After a dry spell, when it rains (especially light rain) the oil in the tar rises to the surface, and when you mix with oil from cars, diesel spills and the like it can be a heartbeat from a slight lean to flat on your face.Slow down 10%, brake in a straight line and be aware of the idiots.
