Quitting

So you'll never really get rid of it.
So you'll never really get rid of it.

That is absolutely not true. I quit after years of 2 packs a day and I have no desire to smoke, and haven't had a single cigarette since the day I quit.

Agreed. I quit the same way, when from 2 packs a day to none at all, with out the patch, gum or pills. Its all in your head if you are not mentally ready to quit you'll keep falling back into it.

For me, I'll never get rid of it, and that's howit seems to me. I can go 6 months, hell, I've gone 16 months w/o a smoke, but when I smell it or I'm drinking, the urge is there. Moral of all our experiences, is that you have TO WANT TO QUIT!!!
New Years? Really puttin it off aint ya? How many people on this forum are workin at quitting? We could all do it together :/ yeah.. its a forum but it might help promote it.

yeah i really am putting it off haha. plus these days with the economy it's like hmmm should i get a pack of cigarettes or a gallon of gas? thank god gas is back to about $2.98 a gallon around here, but anyways i can go without smoking them it is just that whenever i see a friend or someone smoke then i get the urge to smoke. haha so in a way i guess you could say i blame my problems on other people. so whose fault is it that i ain't getting laid then???
I think the misunderstanding is that you may still have a craving every now and then, not that you will almost deffinitely smoke again, my mom smoked when she was younger and still says things about wanting one once in a while, and she's been clean for like 25 years or something
it's all mental i think. hell if i could ride my streetbike i wouldn't smoke as much as i do. only 3 of my friends smoke so it wouldn't be that much of a problem for me to quit and not be tempted cause i've done it before, but it is hard when your manager comes up to you and asks for a cigarette haha.
I'm in on this, although I will admit I just smoked a cig. I'm in the pack-a-dayer club and have been pretty much since I started. I've wanted to quit for the last year or two but haven't really WANTED to, if that makes sense. I also am a firm believer that it's all mental and you have to really want to quit in order to succeed. I told myself when I started that I'd quit when I was 25 and that was three years ago. Who is all in on the NO SMOKING band wagon so I know who I can message when I'm having a rough day! [8D] I think my plan of attack is to try to not smoke as many cigs a day until this weekend and then start fresh on Monday morning(so I guess I can't really post on here until Monday..[:'(]..) and go cold turkey, and hopefully be determined enough to really quit! Sorry to ramble. I love this place!
