After downloading the Call of Duty 2 demo for my PC I can't get it to install.[:@]
I get an error message that says the file "is not a valid win32 application" or somthin like that.
It is an exe file and I cant figure out what is wrong. I have dled it from different places.
Any Ideas?

GRUNT_Jarksbro... let's get started.. I needs lots of info to begin answering this. You're trying to install Call of duty II Demo. Do you have the minimum requirements:

1.Minimum System Requirements

- 3D Hardware Accelerator Card Required - 100% DirectX(R) 9.0c compatible 64 MB
Hardware Accelerator video card and the latest drivers
- English version of Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000/XP
- Pentium(R) 4 1.4GHz or AMD Athlon(TM) XP 1700+
- 256 MB RAM (512 MB RAM recommended)
- DirectX(R) 9.0c (Not included with Demo)
- 100% DirectX(R) 9.0c compatible 16-bit sound card and latest drivers.
- 100% Windows(R) 2000/XP compatible mouse, keyboard and latest drivers
- 700 MB of uncompressed free hard disk space (plus 800MB for Windows(R)
2000/XP swap file)

What are your computer specs... cpu, ram, hd and os?

Also, I'm not up to speed with call of duty II, do they have a 64 bit version? Make sure the demo you are downloading isn't meant for the 64bit cpu systems. Let me know more about what you have and we'll go from there.

I hope what I'm saying isn't confusing... if other IT people are lost, then I'm not doing a good job of explaining it. AMD the other choice to Intel (and my choice) of processors have a 64 bit processors that game companies love to write games for. Some of the 64 bit games/applications will not run on most computers yet... we normally have 32 bit processors. Nothing too complicated... the bit size is easily viewed as a highway path. The more lanes you have, the faster traffic will flow. 64 bit has twice the lanes of 32 so more data gets processed with the same amount of time.

I just need to know what type of computer he is trying to install the game on... if it's a store bought dell... give me the model number and I'll look it up. If it's a clone, built by a computer shop or someone like me... then we have to communicate a little more so I can find out what he has.

Oh.. by the way.. Don’t think just because you're talking to an IT person that he's knowledgeable in all software and computer hardware. It all goes together, but you don't have to know much about software or what's inside a PC to network them together... I have been surprised on many occasions at how little some IT staff know about the simple home PC.

Doesn't sound like a hardware problem. Could be you just need to load a patch since it's a demo version. Do a search on www.gamespy.com and see if there's a downloadable patch out there somewhere. Good luck.
