Default Computer PCI question...

Hey, i just need one question answered. Is a PCI-e 2.0 Vid card, for example the nvidia 8800gt card, compatible with a PCI-e x16 slot.

Reason me being confused is i found theXFX card on amazon and it says it is 2.0/x16 compatible. I got the part number from amazon and go over to good ole newegg and look up the card and it says nothing about being x16 compatible.

so any of you that can be helpful, please be so

Thanks in advance nauree...and others

Yes. PCI-e is the type of slot and 16x is how many piple lines are going from that slot. Its basically a 16 lane highway made for 1000cc's.

Your not gona be looking at the wattages. But you'd want one with atlest 500watts. You want to know how many amps are on the 12v line. At LEAST 24amps with the 8800. Now you could get a supply with two or more 12v lines with 12amps on each but its best to get a supply that has 1 12v line with the highest amp you can find but those are the most expensive supplys. Honestly, I run my 1950xt on the dual 12v line 12amps and never had a problem.

I run an Ultra V-Series 500W with my 7950GX2. So you should definitely be fine running something similar on an 8800.
