Its a funny story, I was actually thinking of getting the Kwaka W800 (British copy twin), seeing as how I turn 60 this year & will be my last bike. Thought it would be nice, say in 10 years to burble around to pharmacy for my heart tablets or an easy park at the hospital for dialysis. The Triumph dealer is in the same street as the Kwaka dealer, (next door actually) So I thought why not a Bonneville? Anyway last week end I went back to the Triumph shop (also sells BMW's & Harleys) While he was checking out my bike I noticed they had a 2nd 2007 BMW F800 ST, 900klms on the clock, fully dressed, top box & hard luggage, on board computer & tyre pressure sensors for $14999 (AUS). Not a mark on it except for a blown right fork seal. Which they would fix.
I have had 2 beemers, one was a great bike & the other, a K100 was a piece of crap, with all sorts of technical/electrical glitches & a cracked center stand.
The F800 was tempting, the trade offered was woeful, anyway I got thinking that if I was going outlay that sort of money on that type of bike, why not go for a brand/bike that I know & trust, so it had to be a Honda.
The VFR ticked all the boxes & sh*t I could drop dead in 6 months, so why bloody not.
They offered a great trade in & threw in a rack & bags (about $500 worth).
They told me that they don't usually trade bikes that old, but it was a well cared example, more than happy to.
As for the colour? It could be tangerine with green stripes & I think I'd still be happy.
Just a drag I have to wait till the end of next month, but if I take out my investment early they crucify you with the interest (or lack of).

The whites nice, wouldn't mind a vfr myself.
The thing about silver bikes, and I believe this due to experience, is that they look fantastic in pictures and decent in person, at first. After you own them a while they start feeling/looking bland, especially when you park next to bikes with more contrasted colors. Least that's my two cents as the owner of a few silver bikes, including my current ride. The only real times they look great are dusk, dawn and in pictures.
