Next time you get pulled over, tell the cop that you're in a hurry because you need to get the cocaine in your backpack over to the dog fight pronto!

And good luck with that ex situation. Sorry to hear you're lonely enough to go down that road...

EDIT - Thought about the way what I just said sounded, so I should clarify...I don't particularly mean that as a jab, I just know from experience that the only time I ever went down the ex road was in times of depression, lonliness, vulnerability, and weakness. Between myself and everybody I know, I'm yet to see anything good come of getting with ex's. It's typically a train wreck.

I got a ticket for 90 in a 55 in Illinois...
I told them I just rebuilt my bike (true) and I wasn't the mechanic I though I was. Said that it had been calibrated with some different sprockets then I bought it and went back to how honda designed it and I guess it was way wrong and that I didn't even realize it. they dropped it to 25 over (instead of 35 over) and I got a 215 dollar fine and have to take a one time 4 hour driving class and it stays off my record. I guess I got off lucky.

I have my fair share of tickets from when I was in college, which is four hours away from home. Anyways, this past July 4th I was on my way back home from the lake at about 2 AM when I got pulled over in a construction zone by a trooper. In Texas the speed limit on most hwys is 70 during the day and 65 at night. So I was doing 65 in a 60 construction zone. The cop asked me what the hurry was and I said there was no hurry just headed home. Then he asked me if I knew what the speed limit was and I told him I wasn't sure but I was going to do 65 and that wasn't it you would stop me and let me know what it was. I think he got a kick out of that and said well it's 60 in the construction zone. Then he told me to slow it down and then let me go. I have found the truth with a little humor sometimes help.

I think in Texas they give you a 5 mph window and some will let you off with just a warning if you are do just 10 mph over the speed limit. Every ticket I have gotten has been about 20 mph over the speed limit, they don't mess around when you are that much over.

I don't know about other states but I do know that Texas has the point system now and it sucks. I will have to pay about $115 every year to the state for about the next two years.

I have received a LOT of tickets, around 20 or so. I've aloso been let go a lot. I would guess I've been stopped 50-60 times. This is not an exaggeration.....Less than 50% of the times I've been stopped I've actually received a ticket..... That's not too bad. Some of the things I've learned.......

1. DO NOT make an excuse.... A cop does not believe there is a good reason to exceed the speed limit. Here's one exception that worked for me..... "I just went to a Japanese restaraunt and now I have to go to the bathroom BAD!.....honestly, I was thinking more about that than how fast I was going".......

2. When you know you're caught, just pull right over....don't make him follow you and pretend you weren't doing anything......This has gotten me off numerous times. The first time, I was coming over a bridge....at the bottom of the bridge the speed went from 45 to 30..... He was sitting in a parking lot just at the base of the hill..... I saw his brake lights come on and hisreverse lights flash, indicating he had just put his car in gear......I pulled right over in front of him.... he didn't even have to move his car.... When he came up, I just told him, I saw him and the new speed limit at about the same time.... He ran my license and sent me on my way.....Several other times, I have seen cops do U turns right after passing me, so I would pull over before they even had their lights on and wait.... I can't think of a single time I got a ticket when I did that.

3. Act as if a ticket does not bother you at all..... If you whine, they will feed on that..... Just hand them your registration and be polite....try not to think about a ticket, ask how they're doing as you're digging out your license etc.... This doesn't always work but sitting there looking like your dog just died almost never works.

4. Make them laugh..... You gotta be able to read people quickly to pull this off.....if you can't, I don't suggest trying it. The first time this worked for me was when I first started riding.Myself and a buddy were playing on some curvy roads...... We came through left sweeper and right in the middle of it, in the median sits a cop. We knew we were had and both of us pulled right over. Basically, he turned the car around and there we were sitting. Wehaving a good day and were kind of laghing about it as soon as we saw him. We had already got off the bikes to dig out our registrations by the time he finished calling in the stop...... He gets about halfway to us and my friend says "How long have you been waiting there to pull someone over?" He replied...."about 10 minutes I guess"...... As he gets up to us, Chris says....."well, we got here as fast as we could"....he tried not to laugh but couldn't help it......he just shook his head, said "slow it down and be careful" walked back to his car and drove off.

Another time I got pulled over in the middle of the night on a deserted state highway... Myself and the cop were the only cars in sight..... A cop actually told me this one...and it has to be this type of situation to work.....Anyway.... he asks what my hurry is, to which I reply.... 'Just trying to keep up with traffic'.... he looks at me like I'm on something and says....'There's not another car in sight'....I then say 'See how far behind I am?'...... I was real nervous about this since it was a cop that told me, I figured it was an old worn out joke...but it worked......he shined his light in my eyes for a few seconds....I guess trying to see if I was drunk but he laughed and walked away.....
