I feel the same way. I'm not opposed to protecting yourself. I just think a person needs to be smart about it. I know there are jackets that have inserts for rigid cases. Why not spend the extra $ and do it right?

Bit of a split between the NA and UK riders. Personally we don't see a lot of guns carried openly here in the wastes, but cross the border into Montana and you're definitely in God's Country. Generally friendly folks, often well-armed

From a practical standpoint, so long as it's stowed properly the risk of misfire would be low, but I'm definitely that guy who would accidentally nudge the safety while scratching and end up shooting myself in the leg. Plus I live in a pretty restive part of the world where guns are used for sport, not protection

I'm with Hawkwind. If I'm riding, one deadly weapon's enough for me at one time

...and yeah, no judgement if it's a protection thing. If you're riding a nice bike in a bad part of town, and maybe you've had a couple bikes stolen before, do what you need to do

Police carry on their bikes everyday with no issues. It can be done.

Now, here's something to think about and it's a true story that happened to a friends dad.... He got hit on his bike and while he was unconscious, someone at the scene stole his pistol, wallet, and wedding ring.

wow, that's quite the sucky story, don't even know what else to say about that.

You do bring a really point about the police.
