Yeah, don't listen to me. I've never registered a motorcycle in Louisiana before.
based on what you said you're right, you never have because if you have to have the inspection to register your bike but you have to have the registration to get an inspection that would make it absolutely impossible to register your bike...unless there's something you're not disclosing.
And apparently you do not know Louisiana law.

Q.How do I register a vehicle purchased out-of-state?

A.Same requirements as transferring a "used" vehicle PLUS the following additional documents.

If neither the bill of sale nor assignment of title is notarized, a notarized affidavit is required from the registered owner attesting to the fact that they are not a resident of Louisiana. If documentation submitted was notarized in Louisiana, it can then be assumed that the registered owner shown on the out-of-state title has become a resident of Louisiana and must pay use tax. A "double transfer" will then be processed with tax collected on both transactions. All documents and fees must be submitted simultaneously to the local Office of Motor Vehiclesor mailed to Headquarters.

https://web01.dps.louisiana.gov/OMV1...e?OpenDocument
To transfer a vehicle to Louisiana which has already been registered in the applicant's name in another state, the following documentation is required:
1. A Vehicle Application (DPSMV1799) form completed and signed by the owner
2. The original out-of-state certificate of title. If the original certificate of title is being held by an out-of-state lien holder, see Policy 16, Section IV for additional guidelines.
3. Proof of current liability insurance

When the original out of state title is surrendered which indicates an outstanding lien, a $10.00 mortgage recordation fee shall be collected.

If the applicant has not transferred the vehicle to their name, see Section IV, Policy 2.0 for additional information on titling the vehicle. In this case, unless proof of sales or use tax paid by the applicant is presented and the reference for the state indicates tax must be paid upon delivery of the vehicle, no tax credit will be given.

Default RE: out of state title transfer ???

old post but here i go :

To get the bike registered and title transfered i needed title signed by other party, a notarized bill of sale and proof of insurance.

Put $2000 on bill of sale and all fees added up to $81.62

Took the written portion of the test and was going to take the driving portion later in the week....ended up failing because of the bs system they use for the test. 25 questions on the computer...slow and if you click submit twice it skips a question and it counted them wrong.[&o]

All in All u missed 2 but ended up missing about 8 with the submit button thing, so im heading to another DMV wendsday that has paper tests.
