Default ONE more computer/printer problem

Im sorry to sound like such a dumbass but u guys are good in all this latest technology issue. I have a printer that works great on xp and HP now says that they are not going to make drivers for Vista, are there any ways of getting around such a problem? Or should I just invest in a new $299 printer that works with F*X*n vista?
I did search for drivers but none work for vista, printer is a special wide format HP 9650

by the way, i got a fix on my previous stupid question keeping vista and hacking the software to install, thanks to all

Getting a new printer is probably the best option (since most ink cartridges cost as much as printers anyway).

you already tried to install it on the vista machine? it may work, worst case it doesnt and you need to buy a new printer anyway.

good question RRASCO, in fact it does work, for basic "print" web documents and such. But when u tryto print from a program that requiers specific options like sheets size, precision and stuff like that it doesnt work. Also some programs cant even tell its there. I dont mind buying the newone if thats what its gonna take, what I hate is what the F*$*$ am I gonna do with the old one! Its hard to see special printer that serves a unique purpose u know... thanks for the replies guys

If HP says they are not going to update a driver for Vista i think your out of luck. Unfortunetly alot of hardware wont run on Vista which really sucks. I ran into the same problem with my digital camera, i couldnt use it on Vista. I picked up a cheapo Lexmark Printer/Scanner/fax for under $50 bucks and it actually prints really well.

That's the spirit! I always love the holidays. Man and I think you should call up hp if the camera doesn't work and ask for a supervisor and give them a thorough chewing out.. My sister did it with apple when I had some problems with my ipod a while ago (not that I wouldn't have but she insisted.. plus shes amazing at chewing people out on the phone) I ended up with a brand new ipod that was not only bigger but was the new model since I'd owned mine and some ipod stuff and a $25 itunes card. Who knows.. you might get lucky.

you might also be lucky enough to find a third party driver.

you were talking earlier about maybe putting XP on as an Operating System. I think that would be your best bet, you get to keep your old printer, digi cam works on it for sure, and you wont have all the little annoying problems that come with Vista. XP is a much better OS if you have the Program avaliable to you i say put it on, you'll be much happier.
I also read today that Microsofts new OS named Windows 7 might be out as early as next year now????????? if thats the case Vista will probably become obsolete..
