Average weight of a 250cc motorcycle: 350lbs

Average weight of a 600cc sportbike: 405lbs

Average wait in the hospital ER when a 600lb ZX-14 falls over and crushes your tibia: priceless
My husband has a ZX-14, that bike is a blast....it doesnt weigh 600 pounds either. The funny thing is that the 14 feels much lighter than my CBR1100XX.
weight of the 14 is 485 dry, and my honda is 491.

and I agree with everyone else, a zx is not good for a first bike.
Per the manufacturer's stats, the '06 ZX-14 weighs 7 lbs more (dry) than an '06 VFR (non-ABS). It has the same wheelbase and a slightly steeper steering geometry. I love mine.

According to Motorcyclist magazine, the wet weight of a 2006 ZX-14 is 563lbs. I'm sure it does a good job of feeling lighter at speed, but not at all to an inexperienced rider trying to maneuver that much heft around their own driveway...

Hey, they have the VFR at 557 lbs! Still 7lbs different, that's pretty unusual. But everyone who posted *said* it was still a bad idea.

A ZX 14 for a noob would be like asking a 12 year old to move a Hurricane - you could, but you shouldn't...........

I am less concerned about the weight of a ZX-14 compared to what happens when you grab a handfull of throttle. Apparently, those things go pretty fast (still the fastest production bike?)...a new rider may not have the skills to negotiate a problem at an extreme rate of speed. Hell...600 cc's at 100 mph would be more than enough for a noob (of course: no brains...less pains). So, I didn't read all the responses. Did the OP post up what the final outcome was?

The busa and 14 are tide for fastest. They are both governed same top speed. Now its "Which is quickest?"

I rode an'06ZX-14 before and promise he will crash the first time out on it. Nothing to do with the weight whatsoever. Those things are burnout machines. That clip someone posted of the new 1000RR doing a burnout is exactly what will happen to him.

The 14. I believe it's just barely faster (as in a fraction of a second faster) in the 1/4 mile than the busa. Either way, you're basically calling the grim reaper up and asking him to come over and hang out by learning to ride on a 1400cc sportbike.

*Ring...Ring...Ring...Ring*

'Hello'
'Yes, is this the Grim Reaper?'
'Uh-huh'
'Cool. My name is Rod Johnson and I have never ridden a bike before. I have played Moto GP on the Xbox though, so I get it. I was going to buy the fastest production bike ever, and was wondering if you would like to come over and give me a few pointers.'
'I'll be over in a moment'
'Thank you, Grim Reaper, you're soswell!'
