Thinking about getting a decent camcorder for the family. Don't want a HiDef unit as they are still in the $600+ range. I was thinking about getting something like a 30 or 40 gig hard drive unit but those are still in the $500 price range. I saw now that they have flash drive camcorders that hold 8 gig plus CF cards and think this might be the way to go since they are inexpensive and the cards will plug into about any laptop easily and I don't need to buy any 3" disks.

My two choices right now that I'm really looking atare a 3" mini dvd camcorder which at high res will give me 20 minutes recording or a flash drive camcorder that even with an 8gig CF card can do nearky two hours at high res.

What would you guys recommend?

 

I am a technology retard, but I would think that the mini DVD is fast becoming an anachronism. I would chose the other.
