Default My first encounter with the coppers....

Well on my motorcycle anyways[sm=badbadbad.gif]..

So i am headed home from work it's 11:30ish and i am on a four lane road in the right lane these two cars begin to break more and more infront of me for a turn coming up, well they are not the type to slow and turn they are the ones who stop and turn(on a 40mph street mind you) so as they are half in the lane half out i split between them and the car to my left and beat them to the merge 20yards ahead. No big deal then as i am going in a one lane each way i am stuck behind some old fogie so i am swerving in my lane....BAM lights are flashing so i signal with my hand(no blinkers) and pull to the side...

*here is where the forum helped i did what i read and i think it helped out......*

*I killed the bike and removed my helmet* as he was getting ot of his car,As he is approaching he is reading off my plate into his cb on his shoulder(which i was suprised i didn't catch **** for with no lisense plate light and it's a CW kit so i figured he would complain but he didn't!!!!)he askes for license and regi, so i step off the bike grab my wallet from my pocket and my reg from the "trunk" hand it to him and he asks "whats with all the swerving?" i reply "just warming the tires up.."(i was really just bored) he askes how long i have had it i tell him a year, he compliments the bike then says i see you have laid it down (referrring to my rear cowl the only piece which hasn't been replaced) he says "so how's that happen" I quickly reply "cold tires"(which is the truth) and he walks back runs the **** comes back says keep it safe have fun and good night!

I was happy he didn't act like a dick for things he could have.

The best bet...just like you did. Be cool and dont be a dick and most cops will respect that. Until they become dicks of course!! Then it is open season!!

A similar thing happened to me, though I wasn't as fortunate. I was test riding a bike that I had just assembled from the crate and brand new bikes have brand new tires so I was swerving in my own lane, not speeding, no traffic, trying to get the slippery "film" off the tires. A sherriff whips a U-turn behind me and signals me to pull over, which just happens to be the dealership parking lot [&:]. He immediately starts busting my ***** about how I could have caused an accident by swerving and I explained to him that I would rather wreck the bike than a potentially new rider leaving a turn and slipping out. I tell him about the slipperiness of new tires and even show him the area on the tire that is still slippery compared to the part that I have rubbed clean. He claims "yeah I have a motorcycle, I know all about that" (I'm thinking: "then why are you writing me a ticket?!"). My offense: wreckless driving. He claimed moderate traffic (3 cars within 1000 yards of me on a 5 lane highway). In the notes: "offender was weaving from side to side with wreckless disregard to himself, his motorcycle and other traffic". What an asshat. So I pleaded not guilty at my court date and have yet to hear back about my trial date.
