RE: my 1st ride on a 1000...
I ride my brothers 06 1krr in my avatar every once in awhile. The power is amazing, and I'll probably buy the blu/yel one someday too, but I'm just not ready for it yet. My brother says he thinks i am judging by my riding ability, but I actually enjoy my 600 too much to part with it. It's so lightweight and fun in the corners, yet still has enough power to get the front wheel up oh so effortlessly. Why would I get a heavier faster bike? Not yet anyhow

RE: my 1st ride on a 1000...
I was in a bike shop over in Falls Church last winter and came across an 07 1000 RR that was on clearance for 9K. If had not been in school and had a full time job, I think I would have picked it up. But yeah, Ive been thinking of getting a liter bike too. Guess we shall see if I can ever make any money.

Aken, i like to THINK im pretty darn responsible on my bike, and would be w/ a 1000. im not the type to go blasting around everywhere i go....granted i prob. ride backroads a bit harder than i need to, lol....but i dont go hitting triple digits everytime i hop on the bike. i like my insurance where it is

1) Backroads will take more effort on the 1k. They aren't as nimble, and can't be thrown around like your F4i.
2) I understand you feel responsible, I do too. However that doesn't negate the fact that what if you were to end up in a silly situation where you accidentally crack the throttle while leaned over at a slow speed? On your F4i, you might **** your pants. On the 1k, you'll probably pick your bike up off the ground. While you didn't do anything wrong, it was just a little accident, the 1k will be a lot less forgiving.
3) If you don't go blasting around everywhere, why buy the 1k in the first place? Why spend a bunch of money just so you can get to the speed limit faster?
4) Insurance on a 1k is higher than your F4i.
These are just my opinions. I've ridden 1ks before, including a Repsol and a few Gixxers, and yes - they're fast and fun. But I would never buy one for the above reasons, and more.
