Default Mounting tires gripe

I called down to a dealership about 50 miles away yesterday to see how much they got for mounting tires. I about died when the dude told me $100 PER TIRE. Didnt matter if I brought him just the rim or the whole bike. These are the same fools who want $8000 for a 03 f4i with 7,000 miles.

I told them they can stick it up their ***. I had been there once before and everyone I talked to had a superiority complex. So if anyone ever cares never shop at midamerican motoplex in sioux falls, SD.

Mount them yourself, just get them balanced properly at a shop.
You need:
A nice vise or someway to secure the rim while pulling/prying hitting the old tire with a hammer.
A schraeder valve tool, it helpsempty the old tire quicker.
New Valve stems.
6-8 Tire Irons.
An air compressor to fill the new tires, you sometimes have to go 20-30 psi over the operating psi to get the beads to seat. Only do this for a minute or less.
The Official Sailor's Guide to swearing while working on motors.
3-4drunk friends.
24 pack o' something good, for the friends.
Stay sober yourself.
You Personally need good gloves, they don't. Hence the drunk Part
Be prepared for the tire irons to go flying through the air at high speed and for good distance, so go where you can throw some tools around.
Also be prepared for the tire to snap back and pinch your, I mean your freinds fingers a few hundred times.
Have your wife film it.
3-7 hours later, yeah wasn't that fun.[>:]
Its not hard it just sucks.
Then definately get them balanced.

I wouldn't reccomend stickin your wheels in a vise.I would reccomend removing your rotors and sprockets layin-em flat on the Ground/Floor....I done plenty that way,It always helps to have another person to put weight on the rim,and work the othe mounting wedge(or most guys use a drift/screwdriver).Make sure you gettem high speed balanced(with all your hardware Back on them).....

Oh I agree. Hence the hammer. I've got this huge vise that has rubber coated pads and they won't scratch anything.

Geez, it's freaking $15 a wheel here. I called around because I'm getting new tires, Pilot Power, and the most expensive I found was $30 but they said they'd match the $15.
