I didn't read through the entire thread but I have something to say.
Being that the internet is essentially a pool of computers "networked" throughout the world, the chances of the internet "going down" is almost impossible, with the exception of a global catastrophe, like a global "power outage", if you will. There's also the fact that there are communications satellites in space that are solar powered.
It's like the care of the year 2000... Worldwide panic that people would have to live like cavemen again.

There are places like Santa Clara California that serve as fiber hubs for most of the west coast. A well planned cut there would impede traffic for a short time but it wouldn't take long for traffic to be routed around it, with reduced throughput.

The choice is yours who should replace you, but just realize that they can't be an existing member since chances are they are also expendible posters. You will have find non-members that are cooler than you to replace you. If possible try to find ones that can spell as well as you and if they have wife or girlfriends that don't mind posing half nude that would help out some of those threads on the top of the page.

i try to avoid punctuation, they tend to breed like rabbits if you use them, especially the commas. capitalization is soooooo last century.
