Hate to be contratrian, but whether you have carbs or EFI doesn't really mean squat about throttle response or the quality of fueling. For example, the KTM adventurer 950 has waaaay better throttle response and fueling than the EFI 990. And the best 450 dirtbike out there, the KTM EXC uses a carb and spanks the Japanese 450 competition. Honda's CRF450 hasn't been as good since they ditched the carb to stay on top of things. The R1 took a definite step down in quality of fueling btw the carbed 01 and the EFI 02 (might be wrong on years here). Another example is the 900RR->929s (the fixed this w/ the 954).
There still is a lot of work into getting good fueling whether it's from a carb or fuel injection, and carbs have been around a lot longer and many if not all the bike manufacturers understand their limitations and strengths better than efi just because of experience. Many EFI will still need to be reflashed or put an exhaust, most EFI system's are not 'open loop' except for a few really new ones. And think of all the guys who say the fueling sucks until you put a $500 2nd ECU on your bike.
Take the bike as a whole and don't evaluate systems based on the paper specs. Going up 5hp on a 600 isn't an upgrade if the fueling sucks or the bike is peaky and loses it's midrange. Cartridges aren't necessarily better than damping rods if the valving is **** on them. 4 pot calipers aren't necessarily better than 2 pot slide pins if the valving and motion rations are off, or the rotors suck or so on. The list goes on.
However, I think the zx7 was kinda ok back in the 90's and passing up on it wasn't a bad thing.

Ayeee whats wrong with the 929?? The FIRST thing I noticed going from the F3 to the 929 was the throttle response, along with easier starts etc..
Congrats on the bike OP, more then doubling your cc's haha
Not gna lie ive always wanted to try a busa as well
