kawasaki?
I still have my cbr900rr 94 model and I have no issues as you all discribe. Its a great bike but it is a Honda. I would agree on alot of the points on downgrading though. Go up not down. Johnnyh
it comes down to what you can afford. if youre looking for something cheaper you could go with carbs, i did, thats what i can afford at this time, plus i like the look of SJR. if i had few more grand to spend, i would of bought a newer bike and maybe even the RR. technology moves forward as should we with it.
I think most people have turned you away but I'll toss in my .02. Carbs are just more work to maintain and adjust. If you leave the bike sitting for a winter without properly winterizing it, chances are you will be looking forwards to taking apart the carbs and cleaning them in the spring time beacuse the bike won't fire up. The bikes tend to be a little more tempermental when the weather gets cold and will take some choke love to get going. In some cases, if the carbs need to be cleaned, the bike will take a bit of convincing to fire up or won't at all. As, someone said earlier if you want to add a pipe and say a k&n filter you need to swap in higher flowing jets, which means removing the carbs, pulling them apart (might as well clean them and replace worn floats/gaskets), then putting them back together and spending some time tweaking the jets to get the right air/fuel mixture.
Overall they are just more of an inconvenience, and can be pricey if you want a shop to do all the work for you. If the bike was recently running, it should be straight, but you may run into more problems trying to make it street legal again if the bike was track only before you bought it.
