Oh man...I'm lucky enough to be friends with some cool car mechanics who will change my tire out for free if I take it to them. Then all I gotta worry about is balancing, which the dealership didn't even charge me for last time.

We should have a sticky thread of good local bike mechanics. The dealership in my area is good, but pricey, but there are two local guys that are as good or better and less expensive.

yeah, we got tired of that crap. we did them with homemade **** for awhile, then my buddy bought a "no mar" tire changer last summer, and it has more than paid for itself in less than a year. if he had actually collected cash from all of us that he's done tire changes for.

I get my tires changed at the track. Going rate is $10ea if you pull it off the bike & $20ea for them to pull it off. You can get killer deals on take off's as well.

I just changed my first tires for my friend's bike.

I used:
Tire Changer

and this to balance: Wheel Balancer

First time was a pain to figure everything out...but after it was figured out...all went better. NOTE: this doesn't have the rubber No-mar parts...so protecting your rims is up to you.

It costs me $30 - $40 CAD each, wheel off. I order my tires from IronPony at about half the cost as getting them from a local dealer in the Toronto area.
