What do you mean cars come "iPod ready?" It's just a freakin' 8mm jack! You can plug ANY audio source into it! The only true iPod ready items are aftermarket CD players that come with true iPod-only connectors, such as the ones Alpine makes.
Blue Fox says that all you have to do is burn a CD, then rip it back to your computer.... hello? that's 2x the work! With non-iTunes-based players it's a one step process.
My .02- although I now have an iPod, I have owned just about every type of MP3 player there is.
