The whole thing got blown out of proportion big time. Awww...my feelings got hurt over what a radio host said. Better raise a big stink about it. jackson and sharpton are probably both rubbin' one out together over this.
Just so you know.. Wiki can never be used as a source because anyone can go in an edit the info. Per my college teacher. But i do get your point and that exact same story was in the link i posted along with several other so its a toss up,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cracker_(pejorative) dammit. where is that definition... anyway- I heard about it in St Augustine on a bus tour about the cotton fields and the masters would whip the guys in the field. the guy called them "crackers" because of the sound of the whip. Stupid.
I don't want to start stuff. Just an fyi- that's all.....

Usage
The term "cracker" was and is used most frequently in the Southern U.S., especially in Georgia and Florida. Since the 1870s, a nickname for Georgia is "The Cracker State".
Tell me how im wrong again? Ur a yank, u just dont get it hun...its ok. It aint cause crackin the whip, if that was the case it would be like a virginia and north carolina thing cause they were where most of the cotton was grown.
