My son is 13 and has been in the garage with me since he could walk. He has always helped me fix things and wanted to learn how to do things. He is actually a pretty good mechanic now, if I do say so myself. And my fiancees son is 8 and youngest daughter is 6, well, never pushed them to get outside and help or anything but the last few months, they have wandered out to me and my bike and seem to be having a competition on who can help me more. I love it. Aside from feeling like I am carrying on a tradition of teaching my children to at least attempt to fix something, I absolutely love spending time with them. I know they may or may not like it now, but I look back on the times my grandfather and I spent time together and those were some of the best memories I have, regardless of how I felt about it then.

I think a large problem with society is that its all a gimmie now mentality. Back in the day they didnt have the yellow pages to call someone to fix something they did it themselves. And if I cant fix it, well I have to pay to have it fixed anyway, so I may as well try. Whole nother rant, lol sorry.

All said, I enjoy my kids and now my grandkids. Dad and granddad are titles I will wear proudly. Now, if their parents have any clue what I can and will teach them, mwuahahahahahahaha....... I can give em back when they are wound up... let the games begin
