Yer a tough lesson indeed...
To make you feel a little better man ..
I have also had just a tad of issues with the law here in Aus..
15 bike licences cancelled or suspended since 1975 :-(
Been chased and booked by cars, bikes, helicopters, planes, radar traps and cameras in near every state in Aus..
Even got kicked out of Sth Australia in the desert on my way west (very fast open roads ) by the traffic cops for speeding (205 kph) with my misses as pillion while I was back on L (learner) Plates ..
Dont recon those cops gave it to me once the plane got a road patrol to block me in the next town .. wooo... they were pissed!!!!
yer I was a regular nutter on my bike way back then.. at 53 now I have calmed some what thank god..
I got off our P (probationary) plate system here at 35years old ... I even threw a party when I got my first full licence..
I finally learned after way to many dramas on the road that, that as my mom used to always remind me..
YOU ARE ! WHO YOU HANG WITH .. ?
I also hope you can find a work around for raising the cash instead of your bike..
good luck mate..

Just another loose thought for you mate :-)
From my experience Wolf, I have learn't that sometimes taking a big gun with you into court, that the judge just thinks you are trying even harder to wiggle out of the facts, than the law will allow.
Obviously I do not know exactly how much trouble you are in at this time, but do you think that all the cash and a big shot lawyer will make them go any easier on you ?
In years past, I found (here in Aus I might add) that the courts seem to be handing out similar sentences to everyone (alot of my mates "the people I hung with back then" ) did the lawyer thing and still got the works thrown at them ..
The last 5 - 6 times I fronted the courts here, I just went by myself, tried to shut my mouth, I did beg and grovel alot to the judge :-) (who promptly told me to just shut up on occassion) , then took what was coming and I still only got the std penalty's...
How much are you thinking you need to pay the mouth piece (lawyer) ??

You won't go to jail on a first offense shoplifting.. my friend stole a pack of cigs and got 6 months probation. I know an older fellow who was a cleptomaniac and got caught stealing like 5 packs of baseball cards and only got probation (his first offense also). You go to jail for felonies, not for misdimeanors. Especially on a first-offense. I got in trouble for posession and only got a fine. I wouldn't sell your bike considering a lot of courts are willing to work with people who don't have money and they can accept payments. Although if you do get a big fine it won't be but a few hundred dollars.
yeah..i had to sell my F4I to pay for some bills..which i got due to wrecking it in the first place..but i worked hard to fix it up again..alot of time/money went into it..i had it fixed for a month and it went bye bye..it sucks so bad. but you have to do what you have to do man..good luck with it.
