OK- system restore is found in the same place then. Start button > all programs > accessories > system tools, I think. Pick a date a week or so back and it should fix all the program issues from the wonky installs.

Jules,i sympathise with you.
Recently trialed "PC Registry Mechanic".......what a nightmare!It took over my Windows XP,i couldnt view Scans in progress,couldnt upload from my camera,etc etc
I went system restore,everything is back to how it was,finaly.....lol
