Default Help needed!!

I am going to scream in frustration here ..lol

I have been looking for a decent and free FLV to WMV/Mpeg converter ... I downloaded a few but they completely hijacked my PC ... icons everywhere, adverts popping up and now my browser has about ten extra tool bars I don't want ...arrrrgh!! oh, and they don't work, they are free demos that lead you to believe they work until you download them and then they throw you to a purchase page ... fed up with it all!!

I am confounded, surely there must be a simple converter out there that doesn't hijack the pc and just does the conversion for free??

You should probably mention the need for a computer geek (in more flattering terms of course) in the heading. I'm just say'n.

Is this what youre looking for?

http://www.video2mp3.net/index.php

EDIT: Pasted the wrong site. If you google it there is a site that will rip video's and save them as mpeg or avi+mp3. Ill have a look through my history for it.

http://keepvid.com/

Never used it and its not the one I came across a while ago but seems legit enough.

Jules try this site: http://www.afterdawn.com/
It has great advice in the forum area and links to several "recommended" software tools...... I have found it to be very valuable!

What version of Windows are you running, Jules?

Best thing to do at this point IMO is do a system restore and get it back to being "clean". http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...emrestore.mspx

Then start over with the software search. I don't do jack with video but I'll look around and see if I can find something reputable.

That is a great Izzard clip. Hadn't seen it before. Thought I'd seen them all.
