Helmet speakers?
I am looking for some helmet speakers but am not sure which brand to buy. Right now I am using a mp3 player with a set of ear buds but it is a pain getting my helmet on and off. I have noticed the one of the sponsors on this site carries the helmet speakers and was wondering if anyone has purchased them and if they are loud enough for highway riding?
I'll bump this because I'm curious too. The ones odvertised on this site I believe are only for one ear though. I want them for both and for communicating with my friend. That would be cool to talk to your friends while you ride.
I did some research today and most people say that they cannot hear the speakers when they are traveling over 70 mph. One person is using a mini amp and they are getting the sound that they were looking for. I looked up the prices on the amps and they range anywhere from $90 to $180. Not sure if I am going to buy a amp and speakers or just stick with the ear buds.
i think the helmet speakers will be nice, i am going to order some since i finally got my bike back. will let you guys know how they turn out. and corey the mics might only come with one, but the velcro speakers for the helmet come with 2.
I have the $20 speakers that velcro into the helmet and it is pretty hard to hear much music through them, Im using my kids sansa mp3 but I got a ipod nano yesterday so it may work better ill let ya know.
I believe it's "lunatic" who has a decent set up in his helmet... search some more around the forum and you'll see what I mean.
I think what he did was buy some higher end Sony headphones (with the head band and padded speakers) and removed the "speakers" (padding and all) on those and put them inside of his helmet. Kinda hard to explain without the pics... sorry.
If I can find it again I'll post the link here...

Great idea - Thanks for the info!
I have a pair of KOSS headphones I got at Best Buy. I took them apart, removed the padding and put them in. Notice, there is a volume control buried within the padding for easy access. It comes in handy when I'm talking/listening to someone. It sounds really good, but the faster you go.....
