long story about me getting pissed off
anyway, some of you may know that i have recently been trying to sell my bike. there was/is a few title issues but nothing like what i expected. the milage was listed as incorrect and had alot of people concerned. so i spent the money and ran a carfax on my bike. and what do you know, it came up that it had been totalled in the fall of 2000 and issued a rebuilt title in the spring of 2001. my dealer took this bike in on trade in the fall of 2004 and i bought it early in 2005. so now i'm pissed. my dealer sold me a bike with a salvage title without telling me and at full-value price. the title doesn't show this info, only after i looked up the history.
so i take a trip up to the dealer today to confront them. honestly, i went there prepared to throw a fit and kick and scream until it was made right. i talked to the owner and, to my surprise, i think he was more furious than me. he explained how they don't deal with salvaged bikes and would have never taken it in on trade if they knew the history (once again, nothing stamped on title). so he leaves the office for a few minutes and comes back with the info on the guy who traded it in to prove to me that they were screwed over. just like they screwed me. and this is where he shocked me. he actually told me that i could bring the bike back to them (it's been over a year) and they would buy it back. no questions asked. talk about cool. he explained to me that customer satisfaction meant more to him than any dollar amount and that the last thing he wanted was for me to leave his office pissed off.
i cannot explain the respect that i now have for them as a dealer and the owner as a genuinely great person. i essentually got to ride a great bike for a year for the price of insurance and plates. and to think that i went up there looking for a fight? i guess there are still some great people around that care about more than just making a buck.

friggin awesome, i wish i could just get the guys at the local shop to fix my carbs correctly, even after i paid over $500 they still suck. what is the name of the dealership/shop that way they get credit for being DA BOMB![sm=groupwave.gif]
damn NINE that's awesome!!! i'm glad to hear this has a happy ending. props to the dealer for actually believing in customer satisfaction and doing what is right. they definitely deserve a plug here... what's the name of the dealership?
yes virginia there is a santa claus....wow....i am impressed....i would give that dealer all the future biz i could and tell everyone i know...rarely, these days, do you get that kind of service and someone who stands behind what they sold....great story
Thats cool, glad to hear everything worked out ofr you. I wouldn't feel bad for going into the dealer expecting a fight, I would have done the same thing. I would deffinately give them all of my buisness in the future, even if their prices are a little higher, at least you know that you would always be taken care of.

yeah, its been a few days of feeling pissed off and pissed on. i went to the dealer expecting (at best) a "reasonable" trade-in allowance. he told me that they do not want to deal with salvage titles at all. they won't even take them on trade-in. i am more than pleased with their offer to buy it back. needless to say, any and all future hondas will be purchased through them.

and by the way, i am buying a cruiser bike. GASP! HORROR! SHOCK! relax though, i've been wanting and planning to get one since i bought the 929 last year. i was actually looking at them when i found it and had to have it. i do, however, also plan on getting another sportbike to go with the cruiser and the dual-sport that i've had for a few years now. my girlfriend and i have always wanted a more comfortable bike to spend time on and ride around together. i just never wanted to get rid of the sportbike!
but the willingness of the dealer to buy back my 929 left me with a little more cash than i anticipated from the sale. so i'm getting both. getting the cruiser now (actually already in the works, i pick it up monday) and hopefully will find a good clean used f4i or 600rr with a CLEAN TITLE to curb my need for speed and occasional trackdays. i am getting the cruiser because it's brand new and i want it, that way i can take my time and wait for the "perfect" bike to come along. i just hope you all won't kick me out for not owning a cbr for a while!
