The guy was cited with "Failure to Yield" and "Illegal Left Turn" .............so the police report says. The woman that waved him to go was not cited, nor was I.

Just got my rental car yesterday. Not a bad one either.........Pontiac G6 GT. Courtesy of his insurance until my bike is fixed/or payout of my bike.

I visited my bike yesterday afternoon to check to see how the estimate was going. He had one of those yellow notepads with 2 pages of broken parts he would need to look up.

So I inspected my bike further and made a comment that the damage didn't look that bad. Then one of the shop guys laughed and said "yes it is." He said that the stuff on the list adds up thousands. It's over $2000 just to replace the fairings alone. So yeah, we'll see how this plays out.

I thought it looked like that would have been an illegal left turn.

Nice rental!!!! Hammer that b*tch!!! I've heard they are pretty fast. Had one smoke me in my bimmer.

Looks like you could possibly have a track bike on your hands. What would be your next street bike choice?

State Farm is good, but they do not take care of their customers like Progressive. They are VERY LARGE and do have a lot of red tape and responsibility deligation issues. I've seen their facilities in Bloomington/Normal, IL and it IS ENORMOUS. They had to add a full parking structure because they had more than 4000 employees than parking spaces! This facility covers hundreds of acres of land. I spoke with ONE person at progressive for my accident in my STi. She called me within 24 hours of the accident and then immediately after the estimate was written. She was awesome and took great care of me. In all honesty, SF will take care of their customers, but you have to appeal to the person to whom you are speaking to help b/c you are just a number to them. It's just like any major business/university/government/etc.

Wow, I got ere realy late for this one. Anyway I'm glad you're ok. Sorry about the bike. that sucks! Also it was a scarry accident, you where UNDER the speed limit, in your laneand not even in the intersection. Goes to show that s..t can happen to any of us at any given point. So better be prepared. Hope everything works out good for you and you end up with both your bikeand a brand new 08 600 RR.

If you do get the red one also they'll match nicely.

Yep. I'm talking with the dealer and insurance tomorrow about when the insurance person is coming down to inspect the bike. They said they were trying to get him to come down on Monday, but since it's Christmas Eve, I doubt it. They'll probably show up Wednesday or Thursday. The more I talk to the guy at the dealer, the worse shape I hear my bike is in.......here's the short list they said needed to be completely replaced.

Front Fairing
Left Fairing
Rear tail
Both mirrors
Bottom Fairings
Fairing Stay
Both forks
Triple Trees
Front Brakes
Left Brake Rotor
Front Wheel & Tire
Front Fender
Front Brake lines
Both Clip On's
Clutch Cable & Lever
Brake Cable & Lever
Headlamp Assembly
Gauge Cluster Assembly (EXPENSIVE)
Windscreen
Frame Slider
Left Rearset
Shifter & Linkage
Tank Cover
Head bearings & other bearings
"Possible" Frame damage
Front Left Turn signal
Front headlamp harness
All Intake Tubing
Headlamp relay

This is all just from him looking at the bike, not even taking it apart. He says he's sure the radiator is probably dented (which would need to be replaced). He says it's at lest $4500 if he leaves some parts scratched up, but I told him that the bike was PERFECT before the wreck, and the estimate needs to show the bike PERFECT after the wreck. So he said it'll most likely end up being a $6000 job with labor (and the bike is worth $7000).........so, it looks like she'll be totaled out, but that's up to the insurance.

Looked at a red 08 600RR today, and it just felt wrong. I mean, my girl is sitting there on her death bed, and I'm already window shopping for my next bride. It just feels wrong.

It's kinda unclear to me how this unfolded. Did the lady wave the pizza driver out from a driveway or some other sort of non-legal-street thing from the side?

Either way it sucks. I wish I could get full coverage on my bike but I lack the proper funds, and I'm fairly certain that a salvage title screws that up in some way. (Actually I wish I could get a new bike with full insurance, but hey - we all wish for things we can't have ).
