Finally got to see the pics, she doesn't look THAT bad, but yeah, its gonna still be espensive to repair, so they have a good chance they will total it. Just as an FYI though, and I don't see it happen much, I know you wanted to preserve the scene for evaluation, but if a bike is ever laid down, you need to pick it up as fast as possible to prevent oil from seeping passed the seals.

^^ I was always taught to leave everything alone and not to touch or move anything........so I did. (not to mention, this is my first major accident where it involved someone else.) So I decided to leave everything in place, just so the insurance companies wouldn't even have even the slightest chance of questioning it to further delay me getting it fixed/getting it replaced.

And to everyone else, thanks for the kind comments and condolences. I'm not the type go to after the driver. He's a pizza delivery guy, sure he doesn't have much money (even if he did, it still doesn't make it right.) I'm fine, only some scrapes on the knee. I have GAP insurance, so either way my bike will be paid off if they decide to total it out, and I too have been guilty of making mistakes when driving.

But I will demand that either the insurance company or himself pay for a new jacket, gloves and helmet. I'm not going to spend $800+ out of pocket to get new gear from a crash that wasn't my fault, no matter what the insurance companies classifies it as. As far as I'm concerned, the gear is part of the bike, was ruined in the crash, and should be added to the claim. I'll talk to my insurance to make that clear, hopefully later on today.

A lot of times gear is actually considered part of the bike and insurance will cover it. I don't think I have GAP insurance, but I know my policy has a value on replacing gear.

Yeah, my agent said that "she highly doubts" that gear is covered, but I called their corporate offices to ask and they said that if it was worn during the time of the accident, anything lost will be covered. So I feel a little better about it.

Technically, blue-book on my bike is 7000. I currently owe 7600, so even if I didn't have GAP, it wouldn't have been that big of a deal, but GAP insurance was only 1 extra monthly payment ($170) so for me, it was a no-brainer.

And again, thanks to everyone for their condolences and kind words. It helps a lot, and I appreciate it..........even if it's a wonderful 65 degrees outside, and I can't ride. Oh well, everything happens for a reason. I just hope the reason was worth trashing my bike.
