And for the record i have a Dell that i game with and its never gave me any problems.. My FPS is always over 100 and i usually have one of the lowest pings in the servers i play on

 

Dells are a great for typica end-users, my only real problems are the fact that they can't be overclocked (not that you would want to with their hardware), BIOS options are very slim and once you start adding the GPU and soundcard the price just skyrockets.

I just hate knowing that I could have built a desktop with the same specs for probably around $700 if not less but I really wanted a laptop so...

NY, homie trust me, I've already been looking at your stats (BF2) and it says you haven't played since last November!!!!!!!! We're gonna change that homie. We kind of have a barebones squad right now, me and RuthlessRoach who plays support (I'm always medic as USMC, sniper as MEC - we do mostly Karkand).

Good news!!! I looked in my closet and I realized I still have my COD4 and BF2 copies, woot!

Side note - Amazon has BF2 the complete collection for $28 (BF2 and all 3 expansions). Also, if you buy that you can get BF1942 the complete collection (again BF1942 and all 3 expansions) for $9 more. 8 killer games for $38 shipped. Lots of other PC game deals there too.

 

So I'm curious - any of you guys that have ordered Dells - ever seen this?



Shows that the computer is expected to ship beore the sound card. Now, obviously that won't be the case, but has anyone experienced this before? Just wondering if I should expect it sooner (laptop ship date) or later (soundcard ship date)?

BF1942 didnt work in vista for me..just to warn ya. Hit me up when your on battlefield 2 or 2142. Those are the only games i play online. I would play COD4 online but all i have is a hacked version...so no online for me. I will be buying a copy this summer though pretty soon here.

Will your 8600M run COD4?? I have a 8400M and had a 7400geforce go, and the frame rate was way too low to be pleasant. How much did you pay for this computer? I found a great way to buy new computers. Look online for coupon codes. I got 30% off my $1500 laptop i just bought

so lemme know when you get it. I usually dont game on my laptop, i built a sick *** rig for that

 

Well in all fairness the 8400 is weak as well as the 7400, since they're both budget cards, the 8600GT has had great reviews (from everything I could find, anyway) specifically for BF2, 2142 and COD4. Lots of people are playing Crysis on lowered settings on the same hardware, I've read as well.

Voodoo has got me checking YouTube for FEAR clips... think I'm gonna ****** it up!

I've got a source for codes as well (just never use them as this is the only PC I have ever, "bought"), and the only one I could find for the 1720 was for a warranty. The 1520 has some deals for $749 ($549 as configured by Dell which is still agood deal)configured, but I gotta havea 17" screen... at least if I'm going to be shelling out that much cash.

yea the 7400 and 8400 are weak...but i cant be luggin a 17" laptop to class and whatnot..they work for what i need.

I have not been lucky enough to have the pleasure of ordering from dell...but i have been lucky enough to have some chats with tech support...fun business right there ill tell you. I spent more time tryin to figure out what the hell he was saying than trying to fix the computer..lol..all businesses are like that now tho

 

Well i can tell you that the X-fi laptop card is usually the type that goes in the expansion slot. It's not built in. Creative doesn't build them into mobo's.
My X-fi platinum is aweome, I think you'll be satisfied with their products.
